Democracy Is Not A Spectator Sport - Go Vote!

Voting is probably the most cherished right we as citizens have – it gives us a way to participate in our government. Less than 20% of the Registered Voters actually exercise their right to vote. To live in a society where we are free to choose who we trust to manage our schools, cities, counties and our country is a great privilege.

We have a higher turnout/voter participation for the Primaries and the November General Elections, but the elections that often affect our lives in the most personal ways are the local elections.

The Cities of McAllen, Mercedes, Pharr, San Juan and Sullivan City are all holding their local Municipal elections right now. The McAllen and Sharyland School Board elections are also underway. Find out about the candidates and vote. Democracy is not a spectator sport. If we want our governments to develop and implement policies that are a true reflection of the kind of community in which we want to live in, then we must VOTE!

Early Voting started Monday, April 24th and goes through Tuesday, May 2nd. Election Day is May 6th. Let your voice be heard. For more info re location and hours of the Municipal and ISD polling sites, go to:
